What is a gobo projector?

A gobo is a small glass or metal disc containing an image: a logo, text, symbol or pattern. In a gobo projector, a powerful light source shines through this disc. A lens focuses the light to produce a sharp image on your chosen surface.

The result is a crisp, clear image without a computer, media server or moving content. This makes gobo projection reliable, easy to operate and suitable for extended operation.

How a gobo projection system works

• —Light source: usually LED, with an output suited to the distance and ambient light.
• —Gobo: the image itself, in metal (one colour, highly durable) or glass (colours and fine details).
• —Optics: the lens determines the image size at a given distance.
• —Housing: for outdoor use, choose a weatherproof version that can withstand rain and temperature changes.

Static and dynamic projection

With static projection, the image remains still. This is ideal for a logo, wayfinding or a fixed pattern on a façade.

Dynamic effects bring movement to the image, such as rotating gobos, colour changes or effects like water, fire or falling snow. This brings a façade to life without the cost and complexity of video mapping.

Custom gobos

We create gobos based on your design: a company logo, a city coat of arms, a seasonal motif or your own pattern. We check in advance whether the design is suitable for projection and match the gobo to the projector and the distance.

How to choose the right projector

• —Projection distance: how far is the projector from the surface?

Rental, sales and support

You can rent projectors for an event or a season. For a permanent installation, you can buy them. In both cases, we advise on the setup, supply the gobos and help with installation and adjustment.
